Daytrip to Faro and or Tavira
From Olhão it is only short way to visit Faro and Tavira, Faro is 8 KM away, see the old town and do some shopping if you like in one of the boutique or specialist shops. Also you will find some fine architecture and numerous historic buildings, some of them survived the big earthquake back in 1755. If you don´t have a car it is very easy to take a bus or train.
Tavira, has a pretty old centre, is an acient town with Phoenician, Roman and Moorish past. A castle, countless churches and a superb Roman bridge across the river Gilão. It is well worth a visit, from Olhão to Tavira is about 21 KM, also easy to reach by public transport if you don´t have a car.
